"Remembering Babylon" by David Malouf

In the mid-1840s, a thirteen year old boy is cast ashore in the far north of Australia and taken in by aborigines. Sixteen years later, when settlers reach the area, he moves back into the world of Europeans, men and women who are staking out their small patch of security in an alien, half-mythological land, hopeful yet terrified of what it might do to them.

Everyone is welcome to drop in to any of the discussions; register online to receive handouts, reminders, etc. Copies of the next book will be available from the Capilano Library in Edgemont Village or reach out to Kelly at [email protected] to arrange pickup at an alternate branch on or after the date of the current meeting. All books are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Copies are also available in other formats, such as print, ebook, audiobooks, and more. Ask staff to help you find a copy!
