The 2025 North Shore Writers Festival kicks off with a Traditional Welcome to the Territory with Tsitsáyxemaat.

Tsitsáyxemaat Rebecca Duncan is of Squamish and Musqueam descent. She has devoted her life to preserving the Squamish Language and passing down the cultural teachings that have been handed down to her from her late Papa and his Papa and so on and so on since the beginning of time. Tsitsáyxemaat is a knowledge keeper, storyteller, weaver, traditional cook, language teacher, singer, and dancer.
